Work Day Schedule

Hay Creek in Chippewa County

Saturday, March 7th from 9am-1pm

We return to Hay Creek at the 87th St bridge site northwest of Chippewa Falls. We will send a crew down the east side to open up some new angling areas. We’ll also be burning the brush piles from our previous outing on the west side of 87th, which hopefully will burn down without too much trouble. Volunteers are needed to cut and stack brush, paint stumps, tend fires and of course we need chainsaw operators who have completed DNR chainsaw safety training. Lunch will be provided.

LOCATION: Hay Creek at the 87th St bridge off County Road C in Chippewa County, about 3.5 miles northwest of the County Road Q exit from Hwy 53 by Tilden. Click here for a map of the exact location. Park along the shoulder on either side of the bridge, just as if you were going fishing.

WHAT TO BRING: Dress warmly but be prepared to remove layers. Warm weather is reducing the snow pack, but it may still be crusty and hard to walk. Leather gloves and sturdy footwear are a must. Don’t forget to bring water to drink as you will get thirsty. Chainsaw operators are encouraged to bring their own saws, but we will have safety equipment (chaps and helmets).

ALL ARE WELCOME: Work at your own pace and don’t feel bad if you need to rest or knock off early. The point is to have fun, get outdoors and feel rewarded by increasing angler access and removing invasive plants.

WEATHER: As long as you RSVP I will keep you posted if weather becomes a concern. The backup date is Saturday, March 15. If you have any questions feel free to email me at mattwysocki1@gmail.com.
